Former Indian national cricket team player Yuvraj Singh spoke about Team India's poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He admitted that they did not play good cricket but said that it was very wrong to say bad things about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

The India national cricket team suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Australia national cricket team in the three-match ODI series. They looked clueless with bat and ball, and even after winning the first match, they could not carry the momentum into the next matches.

Indian batting was the main reason behind the team's loss in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Senior batsmen in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed terribly while there was no support for Jasprit Bumrah in the five-match Test series against the Australia national cricket team.

“Well, they lost, they didn't play good cricket. They are getting hurt more than us. I feel Gautam Gambhir as coach, Ajit Agarkar as selector, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are the best minds in the world. Cricket is now and they have to decide what The way forward for Indian cricket.”

“I think it is a big thing. I have never seen in the past that a captain was not doing well and he himself walked off the field. That is the greatness of Rohit Sharma because he kept the team ahead. My job is to support my friends and brothers – Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh added that the loss to Australia after two successive wins was acceptable, but not the loss to New Zealand. He also shared his opinion on how things can be improved, adding that the players are his family and he will support them. He explained:

“For me, New Zealand's loss is more painful. Because they lose 3-0 at home. You know, that's not acceptable. And that's still acceptable because you won twice in Australia. And this time you lost.”

“I was a student of the game and now I'm a student of the game. With the amount of cricket I've played, they've played more cricket than me. I can give my opinion. My opinion is that when players don't perform well it's easy to say something bad about them, but it's very difficult to I support them. The media's job is to say something bad about them.
