After the thrilling battle between bat and ball in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, the focus now turns towards the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The eight-nation tournament is scheduled to be played from February 19 in Pakistan and the UAE.
All the attention will be on the India national cricket team as they have been under immense pressure, especially after their poor performance in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. There is no doubt that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be a redemption tournament for them and hence, the spotlight will be fully on them.
The Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be announced on January 8 or January 9, with Varun Chakravarthy competing.

In a major development, it has been learned that mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy is also in contention to join the Indian team for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
BCCI asks the selector to keep a sharp eye on Varun Chakravarthy
Chakravarthy has reportedly impressed the selectors with his heroics in T20Is and hence they want him to be there in the ODIs as well.
Reports added that BCCI has asked one of the selectors to keep a close eye on Varun Chakravarthy, who is currently playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25.
The selectors have been asked to monitor the spinner's fitness, along with his moments and how well he covers the ground.
Varun Chakravarthy has performed well in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25
Varun Chakravarthy has performed well in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. He has been the shining light for Tamil Nadu in the tournament. In the five matches he has played so far, he has taken 13 wickets at an average of 13.62, and also recently picked up Fire.
Varun Chakravarthy recently returned to the Indian team for the T20Is, and since then, he has been nothing short of exceptional. He lit up the stage in the T20I series for Bangladesh National Cricket Team and took his game a step forward in the T20Is against South Africa.
The Tamil Nadu pacer did not make his debut in the ODIs. But it is fair to say that if the BCCI is looking to add him to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy squad, there is every chance that Varun Chakravarthy will make his debut for the team in the upcoming three-match ODI series against England.
The series against England will be the team's only series before the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and hence, those matches are expected to give the team a strong idea of the squad in the tournament. Rohit Sharma is all set to lead the team, after facing a lot of criticism in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
