Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn from a PGA Tour event in California next week to continue his rehabilitation from a hand injury he suffered while preparing Christmas dinner.
The world number one said in a story about him Instagram, external Calculating that he will miss the American Express Championship in La Quinta from January 16-18 “to give my injury more time to heal.”
Scheffler Surgery required On the palm of his right hand during the holidays after he was hit by a puncture from broken glass.
The 28-year-old American has already missed the opening tournament of the campaign at The Sentry last week and will also miss this week's Sony Open in Hawaii.
He has now targeted the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which begins January 30, for his return.
Last year, Schaeffler won nine titles, including the Masters Championship and the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
