Sydney Sixers batsman Steve Smith came up with a magical effort with the bat in the ongoing match against Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25. The match between the two teams will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.
Steve Smith, who was playing his first match in the Big Bash League 2024-25, made sure he made an instant impact with the bat and lit up the stage. The right-hander was at his best and played one of his best innings in the league.
Steve Smith started very slowly in his innings, attacking the bowlers after the run
Smith started very slowly in his innings, but once he set his sights on it, he made sure to hit the bowlers all over the park. The opening batsman executed his class with the bat and barely missed a beat in his innings once he was caught after a shaky start.
Smith first hit a sensational half-century and then made sure to turn on the throttle. The batsman hit a glorious century, but he also had nervous moments on his way to his stomach, especially when he was in the 90s and was keen to reach his century.
At 95, Smith tried to ring in his century in style. Jhye Richardson bowled a full toss outside off as the batter moved across a long off and flicked over midwicket. It looks like the ball will go for a six and the batsman will reach the century with his style.
But Sam Fanning, who was in-depth, came up with this amazing effort. He jumped to his right and the momentum took him over the rope. However, he showed great presence of mind and got it back into play saving four runs in the process.
