“In a hurry” for his team to improve and challenge again the Premier League titles.
The Portuguese were interrogated on this topic before facing the league champion in Manchester City in Manchester Derby on Sunday, live Sky Sports.
Media reports said in February that the club's hierarchy revealed a plan called “Mission 21”, which aims to help the club win the twenty -first league title by 2028.
But Amorim hopes to succeed before that and hopes to see noticeable improvements by the next season, which begins slightly more than four months ago.
He told a press conference before the match: “I understand, but I am not naive. I don't want to think we need to be competitors for many years. I cannot think about it, I cannot manage it, it's not inside me. That is why I press myself.
“I know that we will not be the biggest competitors in the next year or two years. We change a lot of things inside the club and know that it will take a lot of time, but I will not say that I need several years.
“Next year is our goal. I do not say that we will win the title next year, I am not crazy.
“I say I do not want this conversation that we need in many years and let us remain calm – no, we are in a hurry. We are suffering a lot for the next year to be much better.
“I don't want to be the man sitting here, saying that we need a lot of time. I will not be that coach.
“All the teams are already in a place where we need a lot to arrest them and will improve again in the next season. I want to focus on our strengths and then use our club to try to bring one or two big players.
“I cannot manage the saying within three years, we are still trying anything. For me, we will start next season. We need to be much better because this is a huge club and I want to put this pressure on me and all here.”
Amorem: I am more focused on Man UTD problems – not Man City
This will be the first house in Manchester Dereby on Sunday, but it has already outperformed the Pep Guardiola team this season.
Man UTD was 2-1 winners at the Premier League meeting in December thanks to the late Amad Diallo goal. He came in the middle of a bad set of the model for Man City, which he won only one match in 13 points in all competitions.
When asked if he felt that Man City has recovered since then, Amorim replied: “I am more focused on our problems. We have more problems than the city of Man.
“They did this run at that moment, but they improved. They can play in different ways and it is difficult to understand and think about how to confront us.
“They may have the best coach in the world, and they have major players, so it will be a difficult match. But I have focused on improving our team, I don't focus on Man City improvements.”
Amorim has become the first manager since Sir Alex Ferguson wins the first Manchester Derby, but he said it was not the best moment in the club yet.
He added, “I don't know, difficult (for example). Sometimes, I am really happy with little things, not with big things.
“Here in other clubs, I don't see one victory as a special moment.
