I wanted people to know me for who I am because more often than not, Ashwin picks up a wicket and Virat Kohli is everywhere – Ravichandran Ashwin
While talking about his celebrations, he said that Virat Kohli, with his aggressive celebrations, made people think that Ravichandran Ashwin is a serious person. He said he wasn't a serious guy but was mostly stuck in the process. He explained in his interview with Sky Sports:
“I wanted people to know me for who I am because a lot of times, Ashwin picks up a wicket, and Virat Kohli is everywhere. He's just jumping around, and people often tend to think that Ashwin is the all-serious one and Virat is the all-conquering one.” Fun, that's why someone asked me the question: “Why are you so serious all the time?”
“My answer to that is primarily that I'm not a serious person at all, but when someone comes at me and I have the ball in my hand to win a Test match for my country, my mind is stuck, because I'm in the process.”
You don't see me taking a five-wicket haul and pushing a kiss through the blade of my bat – Ravichandran Ashwin

“It's not often that you see me hitting a five-point shot and blowing a kiss through the blade of my racket to my better half sitting in the locker room or sitting in the hospitality box. So I felt like a lot of who I was was diluted in the reality of who I had become. So I wanted to I show that in my book.”
Ashwin retired with 765 wickets across formats. However, he will continue to play club cricket and will represent Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League next year.
