Player reviews as Brooks breaks Pickford's heart

A brilliant strike from David Brooks eventually sealed Bournemouth's 1-0 win over Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Everton The team emerged from the first 45 minutes of their trip to the Vitality Stadium with an almost entirely clean sheet thanks to the impressive form of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The exhausted England The host international denied the hosts on four separate occasions, making a particularly impressive save to deny Justin Kluivert when he was past the Dutch striker.

Sean Dyche reacted to the desperate one-man break by making two changes during the first half, including just a third Premier League The emergence of 17-year-old midfielder Harrison Armstrong.

Ultimately, Pickford's spirited design could only last so long. Brooks was part of Andoni Iraola's triple substitution as the game threatened to spiral into another goalless stalemate involving Everton. Within ten minutes of his arrival, the Welsh striker broke the deadlock, brilliantly controlling a shot into the far corner that even Pickford could not clear.

The defeat left Everton looking nervously at the relegation zone, which is just two points away. In comparison, Bournemouth has European qualification in mind after maintaining seventh place.
