Player ratings as Imad's late goal frustrates the Reds

The spoils were shared at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, as Liverpool and a much-improved Manchester United played out a 2-2 draw.

With the two historic giants heading into the match very differently, most expected Liverpool to play at Anfield. However, United refused to show any of the ineptitude shown against Newcastle as they produced an excellent first 45 minutes.

They frustrated the crowd early and quickly settled into the competition. The hosts had their moments with Cody Jacobo going closest in the first 30 minutes, but United were a constant threat down Liverpool's right flank and fell behind twice through Diogo Dalot and Rasmus Hoglund. After Amad Diallo missed a brilliant cross from Dalot, Alisson Hoglund was denied a one-on-one goal.

As a result, the two teams went into a full break.

unitedThe momentum continued into the second half and they scored a deserved opener through an unexpected source. Lisandro Martinez's touch from Bruno Fernandes' clever reverse pass was superb, but their lead only lasted a few minutes. The in-form Jacopo equalized with an equally brilliant finish after sitting down Matthijs de Ligt.

De Ligt was the defending hero again as the Reds overturned their deficit from the penalty spot. The Dutchman's raised hand from McAllister's header was not seen by Michael Oliver, but VAR intervened to award Liverpool a penalty. Mohamed Salah was on hand to score from 12 yards.

But the impressive visitors refused to leave, recovering to equalize to set up a thrilling finale. After entering the back LiverpoolTrue again, Imad, one of Amorim's standout players so far, calmly scored the equaliser.

The finish was very exciting, and could have been won by either side at the death. Harry Maguire wasted a golden opportunity with the last kick. In the end, it was just a point for Liverpool, who failed to capitalize on Arsenal's draw with Brighton on Saturday.
