The January transfer window is almost here and Newcastle United are ready to enter the market to strengthen their squad.
During the summer transfer window, the Magpies were unable to spend money freely in the market due to financial constraints but the story could be different this time around.
Having now complied with profit and sustainability rules, they are managing their finances carefully and a move for a new striker could be made in the winter transfer window.
The player on their radar is Tottenham striker Richarlison, who has struggled for fitness during his time at the north London club.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claimed there is “some substance” in the links between the Brazilian striker and the Toon Army.
While talking to NUFC MattersJacobs said:
“There is some substance for Richarlison and Newcastle, but the price is a big issue. Tottenham have insisted throughout 2024 that if they want to accept a bid, it is £60m or more.
“Newcastle would not be looking at anywhere near that number given his record and the level of his injury. If this develops, from Newcastle's point of view, it would have to be around the £40m or £45m mark. There has been no progress made or anything particularly concrete yet”.

Either striker will arrive as a reserve for the club due to Alexander Isak's presence at St James' Park.
It would not be a wise move for Newcastle to spend a lot of money on Richarlison given his form and fitness have been a major cause for concern.
Secondly, Tottenham will not allow the former Everton player to leave the club on the cheap. Signing a player like Richarlison for a fee of £40m or £45m would not be a wise move from a Howe side.
The striker has failed to live up to expectations since joining the north London club, and his failure to cement his place in the starting XI, even when fit, shows that Newcastle must look elsewhere for their attacking options.
While Richarlison could have arrived, Bruno Guimarães could leave in the January transfer window.
