Netflix has secured exclusive US rights deals for the 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women's World Cups.
The streaming service has struck a deal with FIFA to broadcast the 2027 and 2031 Women's World Cup finals.
This is the first time Netflix has acquired the rights to an entire sporting tournament, and has promised US fans “immersive coverage” and “unparalleled access” to the women’s soccer event.
Netflix also announced that it will be sponsoring an exclusive docu-series ahead of both tournaments, highlighting some of the biggest names in women's football.
“Bringing this iconic tournament to Netflix is not just about streaming the matches, it's also about celebrating the players, the culture and the passion driving the global rise of women's sports,” said Bela Bajaria, Chief Content Officer at Netflix.
FIFA described the new agreement as “strengthening the tournament’s position as the largest women’s sporting event on the planet and providing an outstanding platform for further promotion of the game.”
The streaming service will include Puerto Rico, and will provide live coverage of each match in English and Spanish.
The 2027 Women's World Cup will be held from June 24 to July 25, with Brazil confirmed to host the 32-nation tournament.
