NBA: Jimmy Butler suspended from Miami Heat after trade request

The Miami Heat has suspended forward Jimmy Butler for seven games for “conduct detrimental to the team” and will listen to trade offers for him.

The 35-year-old, a six-time All-Star, said he “probably” wouldn't be satisfied playing for the Heat again.

“We have suspended Jimmy Butler for multiple behaviors that have hurt the team over the course of the season, especially the past few weeks,” a Heat statement said.

“By his actions and statements, he has shown that he no longer wants to be part of this team.

“Jimmy Butler and his representative have indicated interest in a trade, so we will listen to offers.”

Last week, Heat president Pat Riley said there were no plans to make Butler available for trade.

Butler has played in 377 games with the Heat since joining in 2019.

His last game was a 128-115 defeat to the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night in which he had nine points, four assists and two rebounds.

This season, Butler averaged 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

He previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Chicago Bulls.
