Mohammed Al-Shami is ready to return to India in CT

The wait to see Mohammed Shami in action in Indian colors is finally about to end. According to reports in News 18, it has been learned that the premier fast bowler is all set to make a comeback and will play for the India national cricket team in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

It has been more than a year since Mohammed Shami featured for the Indian national cricket team. The fast bowler last played for the team in the 2023 ICC World Cup final and has since been sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained in the tournament.

Mohammed Shami has not played for India since the 2023 ICC World Cup

Mohamed Al-Shami, after the World Cup, underwent surgery and then did his best to return to the field in time. The fast bowler put up tough yards in the NCA and was expected to return in the home Test season, which began with the series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.

However, he had not achieved full fitness until then and it was certain that he would be fit by the time the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 begins. But in what was another setback for him, the fast bowler suffered a swollen knee and was asked to play in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy.

Shami played one match for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and looked in good form. But according to experts at NCA, he was not fit for the match and then was asked to play Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 for Bengal.

But the knee injury has worsened for him as he has been ruled out of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy as well. The main spinner is now ready to return to action and has resumed his bowling in the nets as well. There are chances that he might return to the ODIs in England, which will be the last series before the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
