Liverpool have rejected a bid to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Real Madrid.
There was no official offer but an official offer was made by the Spanish side.
Alexander-Arnold's contract expires at the end of the season, and reports in Spain stated that the 26-year-old has informed Liverpool of his desire to play for Madrid.
Real Madrid are now free to speak to Alexander-Arnold directly about the pre-contract.
But Liverpool seem to have no interest in losing the player while competing for the Premier League title.

talking to Sky Sports In December, Alexander-Arnold said: “I've been at the club for 20 years, I've signed four or five contract extensions and none of them have been announced publicly – and this one won't be announced either.”
Carragher: Alexander-Arnold's decision is different from Salah or Van Dijk
Sky Sports Jamie Carragher believes Alexander-Arnold's close ties with Liverpool could complicate Real Madrid's move for the England international.
“I don't necessarily think he will leave, but I think the situation is different from other players.
“He obviously has a big decision to make. I'm desperate for him to sign (a new contract). He's a local player, I love seeing local players, whether it's with Liverpool or Everton, really flourish. He's been one of the players.” The greatest local players we've ever had from the city.

Melissa Reidy sat down with Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who spoke about his ambitions to win more trophies and how Arne Slott helped motivate his team.
“I think Real Madrid and Barcelona have the lure of players from all over the world. I think that's a dream for maybe 90 percent of players around the world to play for or end up with their final destination being Real Madrid or Barcelona.
“You see Mbappé and you see that with any player who might be rated as the best player in the world. They somehow end up playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona.
“I think it being Trent and him playing for his local club, I think that makes it a bit different. It would be different if Trent was playing for Chelsea or Arsenal, he wasn't a London boy. I don't think there would be any other player.” Question he will take this step.
