At first it was just a small section of fans singing it.
“Liverpool, Liverpool, top of the league… Liverpool, top of the league,” they chanted after Curtis Jones celebrated his 100th Premier League match when he led his team to a 2-1 lead against struggling Leicester.
And it was much higher after Mohamed Salah scored his 19th goal for the club of the season in the 82nd minute to seal a 3-1 win.
After falling behind in the fifth minute, Liverpool were on course for a win that moved them seven points clear at the top with one game in hand over their nearest rivals.
Of course, Liverpool have been here before.
In the 2018-19 season, they led by just 10 points as Manchester City won the title.
“It’s different,” Salah, whose contract expires in the summer, told Amazon Prime about Liverpool’s top spot after beating Leicester.
“But the most important thing is that we need to stay humble.
“This is very special and I hope we win the Premier League and that is something I dream of for this club.
“The most important thing is that the team wins, and I hope we win the Premier League.
“It's great, but we're focused on every game and we hope to continue like this.”
