Philip Clement takes his side to the capital on Sunday to face the most in-form team in the Scottish Premiership, live on Sky Sports.
They are unbeaten in their last five matches after a poor start that saw questions raised over Gray's position just months into his first permanent managerial job.
The former Hibs captain challenges his players to continue their journey and break into the top six.
“It will be a really good game to look forward to,” the Premier League manager of the month said for December. Sky Sports News.
“I think that's one thing I would say – I think the last place Rangers want to be right now is the top team in the league, which is ourselves, so that's the confidence we need to gain from that.
“Yes, they had a great win in the Old Firm game but we need to take confidence from the situation we have put ourselves in and how we have been playing recently and take that confidence into the game. It will be difficult, but if we can play to the best of our ability, we know we are capable To face any team.
Rangers beat Hibs in their first league meeting of the season, winning 1-0 at Ibrox in September.
“We are in a completely different place than we faced them last time, and I think that can only be a positive thing, but at the same time you can't take that for granted,” the head coach added.
“It will be a tough game but as I already touched on there, the players really need to look forward to it.
“It's a completely different game at home as well.”
Jake Doyle-Hayes and Josh O'Connor have left the club since the transfer window opened on January 1, with Nohan Keene returning to Ross County on loan for the rest of the season.
Gray hopes to get money to strengthen his team this month.
“I don't think you can really put a number on it. I think it's normal that with the window open there will be comings and goings.
“The work has been going on tirelessly for several weeks.
“(We're) always looking to be proactive in the window because you never know what can happen, and we've always said that if the right thing can be done, the club has been very supportive of me on that front in trying to make the team better – and if It can be done, I'm sure we will.
“We also have a lot of injuries that we're going to come back with as well, and when you add them back into the group, we're in a healthy position. Now it's about keeping that momentum and positivity going forward.”
