A fine 67 from Englishman Ben Duckett helped the Melbourne Stars To win by five wickets over local Big Bash League rivals Melbourne Renegades.
Duckett's international teammate Jacob Bethell top-scored with 49 as the Renegades scored 168-7, then got two good goals to dismiss Duckett and Marcus Stoinis late in the Stars run chase.
Glenn Maxwell and Hilton Cartwright shook off the loss of Duckett and Stoinis to see the Stars home with two more deliveries.
Bethel, who hit three fifties in his first three Tests for England in the recent tour of New Zealand, hit two sixes and four fours in his innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
But after the dismissal of fellow Englishman Dan Lawrence reduced the Stars to 41-3 from 5.2 overs, Duckett and Stoinis raced through an 81-run partnership until Duckett holed out to Bethel on the leg side after hitting four fours and three sixes.
Bethell then had an excellent low catch to dispose of Stoini three deliveries later, but Maxwell and Cartwright guided the Stars to only their second win of the season as Cartwright hit Tom Rogers for a six and a four in the final over.
